Dr. Marie Higel earned her bachelor’s degree in veterinary science from the University of Arizona in 2003 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 2007. Originally from Arizona, she has worked in the veterinary field since high school. Her professional interests include small-animal soft tissue surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and acupuncture. As a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, Dr. Higel enjoys combining complementary therapies with traditional veterinary medicine to provide comprehensive care for her patients. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and remains committed to continuing education so she can offer the most current medical and surgical care. She also hopes to become more involved in international veterinary volunteer work.
Dr. Higel has loved calling Oregon home since 2007. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, cooking, nature photography, and exploring the beaches, rivers, lakes, and beautiful landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. Most of all, she treasures time with her family and their adorable dogs, Stormy and Atlas.
