Dr. Mara Silka was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Her love for animals started at a young age. She grew up with dogs and was known to bring in injured wildlife to nurse back to health. She was known as the neighborhood dog walker. She then traveled across the country to complete her undergraduate degree in Biology at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, West Indies and completed her clinical rotation at Purdue University.
After school Mara moved to Brooklyn, NY to do emergency veterinary medicine for a year and a half. However, she quickly became homesick and headed back to the west coast. Since moving to Oregon she has turned toward general practice with occasional visits back to emergency veterinary medicine.
Whenever she gets the chance Mara heads to the coast with her three dogs and husband. She loves to explore the mountains and the coast. She loves to travel back to California to visit family and soak up the sun but cannot deny the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
